Is there a chance my tortoise is lonely?

I have a six year old female Hermann's tortoise, and, for a tortoise, she is very active. Recently though, she's got into the habit of biting everything she sees- clothes, feet, cat's paw, dog's tail, chair, rubber duck. It's not through hunger, she does it all day, before, after and during when I give her food. I know that some tortoises 'nip' each other in mating season, so could she be wanting a companion?
