I have a star tortoise which is 10months old? how do i keep my pet in a natural envoirnment?

i have a star tortoise which is 10months old? how do i keep my pet in a natural environment? What kind of lighting should i provide. Currently i have placed it in a big glass tank with soil and pebbles.Does it require heat?
