What's a fun but easy pet?

I really want a pet. I can get whatever pet I want, but I really want it to be the right pet. I was looking at a dog, but they need too much attention and barking wise = not me. A cat. We came so close to buying a cat, but with it jumping on things and clipping nails for 20 years = again, not me. I want a fun pet, but something that isn't too hard. I hate fish, and a tortoise are way too boring. Chickens are not me, and I read some other things on yahoo answers, and I am not getting a spider or any kind of insect or bug! I want a pet that I can hold in my arms and cuddle with, and something I will actually want to play with everyday, not like a fish or anything that lives in water (hermit crabs, etc.) A pet really entertaining too. I really like bunnies, but are they really fun? And like to cit on your lap, and can you play with them, such as in using toys and such? Guinea Pigs we thought about, but I don't find them thaaatt cute, and it's not something i would want to play with ALL the time. Do rabbits take up a lot of space? and can they stay indoors all the time? Do you have to get a giant pen thing to keep them in and how many do you have to get? Can you let them freely around the house all day? But I don't want poop and, or pee everywhere. And no way, never am i getting a ferret or rat or mouse! And yes I think A hamster and guinea pig are the same thing. Is there any pet out there for me? Please help! Thanks so much, as I know this question isn't the easiest to answer.
